Detective Sergeant Deoj Istow (Ben Crisp)
Species: Najourn
Born to the Rukbah tribe of the Najourn species, Deoj Istow was youngest of 10 offspring to the dominant female in the clan. Forever picked on by his siblings, Deoj learnt at an early age how to defend himself using his re-tractable claws and reflexes.
As a young man growing up in a society which was divided into two different cultures, Deoj fell in love with a young Nookbah by the name of Sovryn. While there is no particular rule that both cultures shouldn’t mate, the Nookbah’s traditional beliefs clashed with the Rukbah’s modernist ones, making a rather interesting clan.
By the time Deoj had reached his early 20s, the stars were beginning to beckon and he eventually found himself joining StarPol. While he believed that he was doing it for the greater good of his species, he had done the unthinkable - he had left his clan - and is now considered a traitor and an outcast by many of his species. Even Sovryn is having trouble forgiving Deoj but at least she understands his rationale for doing so.
Easily angered, Deoj Istow isn’t someone you want to meet in a dark alley. Standing at 6’1”, his strength and dexterity often imposes an intimidating stance to anyone who doesn’t know him. He has an enormous appetite and, being a carnivore, it is strongly suggested not to anger him too much or you could find yourself part of his next meal. With no noticable projectile weapon preferences, he resorts hand-to-hand combat, with retractable claws as sharp as a butcher’s knives, and only uses a stungun if absolutely necessary.
Despite his physique, however, Deoj is a sensitive soul. His ego can often get in the way of his actual abilities and personal pride is always a priority. Afterall, he’s not one to let others take advantage of him as has happened in the past ...
